MOTS-c (human) is a type of mitochondria-derived peptide (MDP). Its main physiological function is to promote the biosynthesis of endogenous AMP analogs (AICAR), thereby promoting AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), while also increasing the induced cell's glucose uptake and improving insulin sensitivity. As a pharmaceutical ingredient, it can be considered a potential weight loss peptide ingredient and also has good anti-aging effects.
Original Research Institute:
MOTS-c's "original research" is not from a single company, but from discoveries based on fundamental science.
Current R&D:
At present, the main institution driving its clinical development is Hudson Biotech.
Clinical trials:
A Phase 2a clinical trial is currently underway, but there are no large-scale, published results yet. MOTS-c is still in the investigational stage and has not yet received approval from any major regulatory authority (such as the U.S. FDA) for clinical treatment.
Synthesis method:
MOTS-c is produced using standard Solid-Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS) technology.
